Houston is like an outdoor wonderland for children when it comes to parks and playgrounds. There are so many options, and each of them is unique and worth visiting.
Parks are simply the best option for a fun day with kids, you can pack a lunch and spend all day in the open air while kids burn some energy running around and playing, not to mention the best part, which is there’s no feed for fun!
This list features our favorite parks and playgrounds in Houston, including all-abilities parks and playgrounds so that every kid in the area can have a fun day at a local park.

700 Heights Boulevard, Houston, TX

Donovan Park

Donovan Park has a playground that’s completely made of wood! The playground has a castle/fort shape so it’s perfect for pretend play. Kids will also find a wooden train in the park and plenty of space to run around.

Exploration Park

Exploration Park will be, if it’s not yet, your kids’ favorite spot. There are all kinds of play structures for kids of all ages, including traditional play structures, and nature-inspired wooden and stone elements. This park is truly a place for children as there are many interactive activities for them to enjoy, like a group swing, the Imagination Playground, a life-size xylophone bridge, and so much more!

Levy Park

This six-acre park is filled with an amazing playground located in the Children’s Park, a community garden, games for kids, a reading center, building blocks, a splash pad area, and lots and lots of space for kids to run freely.

Fire Truck Park

Fire Truck Park has a variety of play areas, including a large climbing structure with slides, the red pretend fire truck, a rock climbing formation, a spinning tire, and lots of green space to run and enjoy a picnic or a nap under the sky!

Pumpkin Park

Pumpkin Park is a fairy-tale-inspired park where kids will spend hours pretending to play as Cinderella! The park has a pumpkin-shaped carriage, benches, picnic tables, and play structures for different ages.
